Hydrogen Generator Flashback Arrestors
Hydrogen produced by means of electricity applied to a water solution rich in electrolytes produces hydrogen bubbles which are then introduced into an engine as a fuel for combustion. Hydrogen is a volatile substance, so in the production of hydrogen bubbles, issues of safety are necessarily an important concern.
Hydrogen gas produced within a closed system brings with it the presence of pressure. Large amounts of hydrogen gas which are produced by the generation of hydrogen bubbles must, for safety's sake, be controlled. Throughout the application of electricity to form the bubbles, until the bubbles reach their final destination for combustion in the vehicle's engine, flashback arrestors are MANDATORY.

A hydrogen generator producing enough hydrogen needed to power an engine will quickly fill and overwhelm the generating container. As a means of relieving the pressures which build in the generating container, the bubbles are then vented through tubing into a secondary container, or bubbler, to prevent flashback; a pre-combustion of the hydrogen bubbles before they have the chance to reach the engine itself.
A hydrogen generator flashback arrestor should be applied to the generating system in two forms: one arrestor being the bubbler itself, and the second as an in-line valve which prevents produced hydrogen from traveling back through the bubbler tubing into the generating container.
The in-line valve is a rather simple device, and it's cost of a few dollars is worth it's weight in gold.
