Even though its summer and we're not warming up our car, many of us may crank the car to cool it! This can burn precious gas and is a big money waster. If you have to crank your car to cool it off, only run it for a couple of minutes at most before you start driving. This should be plenty of time for a properly working air conditioner to start cooling the car. Also using window shades or parking in the shade can keep your car cooler and lessen the need for running the car to cool it off.
